Teens are all about emotion. They are sentimental, emotional and private. They love their own space and their own private things. As little girls we all love our jewelry boxes to put our little trinkets in. The typical ballerina musical style is a staple in any girl’s life. But the love for a place to keep our prized possessions does not leave us. As teen girls and then women, we still remember that little ballerina dancing around in that box, keeping our most sacred secrets. We can still hear the song that played.

Tastes may change as we grow, but not our love for certain thing and certain traditions. A jewelry box given to us on our kindergarten graduation is a keepsake we will never part with, but as teens we want something more our style. We desire something more grown up, something prettier, girlier and fun.

There are many varieties of teens jewelry boxes including jewelry stands. Teen girls today are much more into fashion than ever before. Often mimicking their favorite celebrities or red carpet looks, teens flock to the mall and accessory stores to find costume jewelry replicas of their favorite looks.

Diamonds have always been a girl’s best friend and it knows no age limit. Teens love diamonds and stones as much as they love rope chokers and thumb rings. Go into any teens room and you are sure to find a drawer or dresser top filled with jewelry of all kinds. Having a place to store their jewelry is a great way to keep jewels from getting tangled and destroyed.

The treasured box offers some mystery as most teens store more than jewelry in it. A note from a boy in class, friendship rubber bracelets, pictures from the mall automatic picture taker, their first real ring from their parents or a picture of a deceased grandparent are all special treasures to be kept safe and private and to be treasured forever and ever.

Boys today are just as interested in jewelry. Chokers, watches, and thumb rings can be found on almost any teen boy in high school. Most times they can throw their jewelry in a drawer, but a jewelry box is a great way to keep everything in its place and organized. Teen boys tend to gravitate towards chest style boxes. The boxes are more masculine, have more open space for bigger jewelry such has watches and steel trinkets and they can lock them. Teen boys like to store private items in their chest for safe keeping. From condoms to chewing gum to guitar picks to earrings, their boxes are as much their style as their bedroom.

Teen boys and girls differ in many ways, but not in their desire for privacy. Having a place to keep their trinkets and possessions is fun and for them too. Teen boys tend to opt more for a chest, something that is masculine and reminiscent of being a pirate. A little piece of privacy in a teen’s life goes a long way.

You may have thought that playing online games for girls is just about giving fun dressing up an avatar. But fashion dress up games can also be a real entrepreneurial experience. Websites such as GirlSense enable teens and tweens to create their own e-boutiques, where they exhibit and sell clothes that they have created. Everything can be designed with the advanced user interface: the boutique colors, and the clothing styles and patterns. Teens and tweens can sell their designs to other girls for virtual money. Now, with help of a new feature called MarketPlace, girls can buy and sell their personal designs in a virtual auction house. MarketPlace works just like a real auction house: you can bid, view highest and lowest prices, and see the time remaining until the auction ends.

All these features can give teens and tweens a real sense of satisfaction. This is because they are not merely fashion dress up games, but also a real grown-up experience. Furthermore, by creating their own boutiques, girls get to express their own sense of fashion as well as their individuality.

Games for girls are currently very popular with teens and tweens, who enjoy the freshness of the concept, as well as the traditional aspects of playing games. To play fashion dress up games, girls create the design of their choice by dragging and dropping items from the e-boutique selection onto an avatar. To make the whole experience more real, online clothes games, such as those featured on GirlSense, include e-boutiques based on real fashion brands.

Dress up games for girls are the perfect expression of the web 2.0 revolution. Web 2.0 emphasizes collaboration. At GirlSense.com, girls can play, join groups, and communicate with other members in a variety of ways.

Games for girls are not a new idea. Girls have been playing with the Barbie Doll for over 40 years. However, for girls to play new fashion dress up games with the Barbie Doll, parents had to buy new outfits, and that meant spending more money. Online clothes games, such as those offered by GirlSense, are free. GirlSense also regularly updates their website with new games, which match the latest fashions and trends. That’s great news for players, who will no doubt return again and againt to seek new experiences.

Fashion dress up games are sure to stick around for quite a while, and that means that we are probably going to see many more happy teens and tweens spending time exploring this concept on the Internet.

Nine Tips Teens Can Apply To Their Weight-Loss Strategies

Q. I am an overweight teenager. I have no idea how to go about dieting. Do you have any tips?

A. Figuring out a strategy for losing weight is a great first step! I have several tips for you that not only will help you lose weight, but help you to keep the weight off for a lifetime.
1. Forget blame and guilt: It is important for you to make sure that you don‘t blame anyone — either yourself or your parents — for where you are right now. Feeling guilty about your appearance is a negative feeling that won’t help.
2. Take the long term approach: Look at what you are about to undertake not as a short term, quick, weight loss, but rather a change in lifestyle to last a lifetime. You will begin to make more nutritious food choices, add exercise, and cut back somewhat on your eating. If you falter along the way, you don’t need to look at it as a failure because you know that you have a long time to make the changes. For example, if you go with your friends to eat at a fast food restaurant, and you indulge in a large order of fries, there is no need to feel guilty because you know that eating them is not a regular habit, and that at the next meal you will eat more sensibly.
3. Set reasonable goals: Losing one-half to one pound per week is very realistic. Don’t drop your calorie intake to below 1,300 calories because it would be hard to get all the important nutrition that you need in less than that, plus, you probably won’t feel satisfied.
4. Add daily exercise: I suspect that you may be caught in a vicious cycle of not exercising, eating and not having energy. Exercising actually makes you feel more energetic once you have made a habit of it. If you don’t feel like you have energy to exercise now, start out with some physical activity that will get you moving, but won’t require a lot energy. How about taking the dog for a walk? Or, if you don’t have a dog, take the neighbor’s dog for a walk. Once you have done some walking, every day for a couple of weeks, try running for a short distance. Get out on your bicycle, or roller blades, or shoot some baskets in the driveway. If you are at a loss for exercise ideas, speak to your gym teacher. I’ll bet they would love to help you out. Most teachers are thrilled with kids that are self-motivated to improve.

5. Enlist the support of your family: Have a serious talk with your parents and ask them to help. They should be able to help you find materials on nutritious eating, and can help purchase the foods that will help, such as fresh fruits for snacks and whole grain cereals for breakfast. And they can avoid purchasing foods that will tempt you with poor choices, such as sodas, chips, candy, donuts or cookies.
6. Find measures of success besides weight loss: This isn’t just about losing weight, it’s about getting healthier for good. So, don’t measure your success merely on how much weight you lose. Other things you can look at (for example) may be the amount of time you spent being physically active and not watching television, an increase in endurance (for example, biking for a longer distance or jogging for a longer period of time), or a week of making nutritious snack choices (for example, after school you picked a yogurt fruit smoothie instead of cookies and a soda).
7. Block out cultural messages that emphasize being thin: Decide not to focus on the television shows with actresses or actors that are too thin, as well as fashion magazines with overly thin models. In the real world, most people don’t look like that. In fact, it is hard to look like a model and still get the appropriate nutrition from an adequate amount of food. Instead, take a look at high school and college athletes. Most of them are muscular, full bodied and brimming over with good health! You don’t have to be a full fledged athlete to look or feel that way, but once you have developed an active lifestyle and good eating habits , you will.
8. Schedule a visit with your health-care provider: If you think your energy level is unusually low, have your mom or dad call the doctor. It may be that some health problem is contributing to how you feel.
9. Find your motivation from within: Weight loss won’t happen unless the desire comes from inside you. No amount of outside pressure will do the job.
Good luck to you and have fun developing a happy and healthy lifestyle.

One thing for sure, teens want to dress according to their interests and affiliations. Unlike grownups who wear clothes depending on their upbringing, their work environment and social standing in the community, some teenagers wear clothes to identify themselves with somebody who is famous. Usually, wearing branded clothes would give them a sense of belongingness to that star and his distinct group. They might be the yelling fans or the silent admirers. But in adopting that fashion trends, they feel to have belong to the same group. They are the teenagers who feel that the clothes they wear would more popularize these stars and that they could benefit from such fame having been identified to them. This is the reason why designer clothes being endorsed by actors, actresses and pop stars are becoming selling hits.

Other teenagers feel that wearing clothes with its distinct cut would identify them to a certain type of set; whether they are hip hop, the sporty type, the romantic type or the alternatives. Through fashion, they had successfully revealed their true personalities; unlike the grown ups who weighs other factors, the teens’ fashion trends are clear manifestations of the teenagers’ true selves.

The teens’ wholehearted devotion to follow teen fashion trends are considered by some as mere extravagance. Not all teenagers are that rich enough to spend money on apparels in order to catch up with these trends. But creative teenagers have their own ways of fulfilling their passion, and others know how to sacrifice their allowances in order to buy the clothes and accessories just to be “in”.

The need for teen fashion has reached its competitive level in schools especially during the opening of classes. Here, the teenagers are likely to wear the latest trend, for this is the time to find a great new look and these teenagers feel that they are the ones. Do first impressions last? Yes. And these teens are scampering who can impress their peers first.

Teen fashion trends have become a lucrative business that capitalized on the insatiable appetite of the teenagers for distinction. And do you know that teens are behind the success of these companies? Most companies are not only using teens as models, they also optimize multi-talented teenagers. The comments, suggestions and ideas for new designs are made by experts with the assistance of these talented young people. Promotional blitzes including those well crafted fashion shows are done to suggest that teen fashion is really a part of the teens’ lives.

To some people, catching up with the teen fashion trends are just useless lifestyles. They won’t do any good except as a way of showing off that these teenagers have money to spend for these expensive clothing. Why go to the extent of catching up with new styles in order to be identified? Each one has the capability to be known, the ability to excel above others.

Whether the teenagers want to catch up with teen fashion trends or just wear any appropriate clothing, what is important is that these teens must work hard to become successful individuals. These teens do not only want fame, affiliations or distinction, they also want success and fruitful lives.

Teens Bigger Breast

Unhappy surrounded by such a breast size and how properties look, a larger amount of and more girls under the age of 18 are dealing with expensive and dangerous breast implant surgery. As reported by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 3,841 young women 18 or younger underwent breast augmentation, a 24 per cent jump for 3,095, a 19 percent increase of 2002. From coast to coast, and especially prevalent in Texas and California, breast implants are fast becoming the most popular new fad among teens looking to improve their looks and become more noticeable to the opposite sex. Teens Bigger Breast

‘Breasts are a fashion item,’ says Dr. Garry Brody, professor of plastic surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. More and more teens regard this dangerous practice as nothing more than fun, willing to ignore the danger, side effects, and long term problems associated with breast implant surgery. Many teens regard the surgery as “just a fun thing to do,” comparing it to having their hair or nails done, rather than the complicated, dangerous, and expensive surgical procedure it really is.

Around holidays, spring break, graduation, and especially during the Christmas season, doctors begin to see the demand for implant surgery increase. Breast augmentation has become so popular among teens, that many parents are now offering the surgery as a Sweet 16 or high school graduation gift, sometimes paying upwards of $10,000 for breast enlargement. Even though in 2000 the Food and Drug Administration approved saline implants for women 18 or older, its recommendation is only advisory, because unlike medications, breast implants are not regulated by them. However, silicone-gel implants are not approved for marketing, available to women only through FDA approved clinical studies.

Throwing caution to the wind, teens are unwilling to treat implant surgery with the seriousness it deserves, acknowledging the risks and permanent changes they’re making to their bodies and appearance. And unfortunately those risks far outweigh the advantages to having larger, fuller breasts, especially at such a young age, when most teen’s bodies aren’t even fully developed yet. Most teens don’t want sensible advice thrown at them, though, especially if they’re flat-chested girls still in the process of developing. Teens Bigger Breast

Unfortunately at that age, teen girls have the worst self and body image. When they look through magazines and see voluptuous models with large, full breasts on every page, they want to look just like that, the consequences be damned. And there are always consequences to breast implant surgery, some serious, some not, but one thing is for sure, their bodies will be forever changed. And the saddest thing is that once the surgery is completed, it can’t be undone. They’re stuck with facing, what for some of these young girls, will end up being a lifetime of regret.

Everything from severe asymmetry to life threatening complications and illness can occur with implant surgery. Other risks include complications from anesthesia, excessive bleeding and infection, to name just a few. Also, over time the implants can rupture or deflate, requiring more surgery, along with capsular contracture the tightening of scar tissue around the implant, a common complication following breast augmentation. Teens Bigger Breast

Fortunately today there are other safer, all natural remedies, and alternatives to increasing breast size available on the market that can be just as effective, with none of the side effects or dangers involved with implant surgery. If they’re willing to take the time to look around, women and teens can have the larger, fuller breasts they want, without risking their lives to have it.
Tucked away behind pine trees and bushes and shrubs on a cul-de-sac in suburbia of Chicago is my home. The lawns are scalloped and there is a prestige walkway to my front door of my two stories colonial. From the outside you would never suspect the turmoil inside. You see I work full time and also take work home with me so there never seems to be enough time in the day to accomplish a thing. I also have two teenagers so enough said. With my nerves on end recently I had made up my mind not to enter either of their rooms. I had thought to myself they are old enough to be responsible and take care of their own surroundings. Until this time the cleaning and tidying up had fallen on my shoulders. This big idea of mine that they would want to help out had accrued to me about a month before.

Saturday morning arrived and there were activities I needed to get my kids to. They both were still asleep so I first entered my son’s room. I should say just barley entered. His bedroom door would only open an inch. I tried to push my way through as I toppled to the floor. There were clothes, books, dirty dishes amongst other things all over the room that I could not even tell what they were. I woke him up and could feel my blood boiling. Next I went to wake up my daughter and deep inside me I new I would find her room in shambles as well. Needless to say they both did not go to their scheduled activities that day.

They both worked for hours on their rooms but when they were finished they came to me and proclaimed that their rooms left much to be desired. Both rooms had been designed by me when they were younger and they did not feel it expressed who they were. They went on to tell me that their needs and stuff they had acquired over the years had far out grown their rooms. It lacked organization and a place that represented who they were. I listened to them and together we all came up with creative ideas.

This article hopefully will help other families go in the right direction. It should give you the tools and ideas to help make your lives a little more organized and serene. I will begin by laying out the road map that my own family took to reach the goals we set for ourselves.

The most important thing when decorating a teens bedroom walls is to allow the teens input so that the room is a reflection of who they are. Teens live stressful lives just like the rest of us so they need a place to retreat and feel comfortable in. They are still searching for who they are and designing their own bedroom walls provides them an outlet to express themselves creatively.

Teen wall decor decisions will vary depending on the teen in question. There are a number of different ideas for you to explore which will hopefully produce for your teen a room they can enjoy and a look that the parent approves of. Be sure to take in the size of the room, your budget and the practicality of the style. You also need to consider what end of the teenage scale your child is on. Teens taste and sense of self will change considerably between thirteen and eighteen. So be sure to tread lightly with fads and trends that are likely to go out of style. After all you do not want to take on this task again next year.

What we did is we all sat down together with pens and paper. I then asked this question. What are you crazy about and what really gets you excited? I then proceeded to ask them about their hobbies, sports, and a location they love to visit or a topic they want to learn more about. I had them write all these things down. This is the list of ideas they came up with: Dolphins, Birds, Abstract, Flowers, Sports, Space, Fashion, Animals, Music, Numbers, Moon and Sky. I recommended that they choose one idea from the list and making this interest the centerpiece of their room.

We first looked at lots of pictures from books and magazines and spent hours on line at different decorating web sites. We also watched a couple of home decorating shows on television and went to a design center and talked with others to get some ideas. The first thing to realize is not to rush. Take your time since this will be the room that you chill and hang out in.

My daughter decided on fashion as her bedroom theme while my son choice was sports in particular football with the main theme being the Bears. We then gathered in our car and took a drive to the paint store. We browsed through many selections of different colored paint chips until the ones caught their eyes and attention. My daughter picked candy apple green while my son stuck with the Bears colors of navy and orange. All of these being popular colors according to the many hours of research we had tackled.

For one of their walls for each of their rooms we bought a paint that had a faux texture designed that seemed to shimmer and shine. They decided they would keep this wall bare so they could keep adding additional items such as posters from a movie or concert that had seen. In this way they always had space so they had room to grow and develop.

My son had found on line a beautiful hand woven wall tapestry of Soldier Field where the Bears make their home and play their games when in Chicago. He made this the focal point of the room and placed framed artwork of Bears Players all around it. He also hung pennants and his prime passion of an autograph jersey that his favorite player had signed. He is also handy with wood and built shelves along one entire wall. Then with wall paper borders of pictures of footballs went along the edges of the shelves. He was able to use these selves to display his trophies and had space left over for his entertainment system.

Meanwhile fashion was the main theme for my daughter’s room. She had also spent hours on line in search of her perfect design. Like most girls she loves to go shopping and purchase as many shoes and purses imaginable. So I was not at all surprised when I saw her selection for the focal point for her room. It was wall art made up of whimsical purses. It was defiantly cool, hip and certainly prissy. The purses came designed with stripes and swirls of polka dots and matched her candy apple green walls. They had white ribbon and are embellished by a metal snap closure and silver balled feet. This design is definitely unique and personal.

There are three inch letters attached and painted with matching silver. She named her space by hanging each letter of her name over her bed. On the wall opposite the windows she purchased a silver frameless mirror that made the room look double in size. It also came with a pegboard message center and held colorful bins for plenty of storage. We then commissioned a local art teacher from a public school located near our house to hand paint a mural on the wall opposite the display of purses. My daughter is artistically inclined and drew a sketch of abstract designs that the artist successfully copied on to her wall. It truly accomplished the customized look she was going for.

All I can tell you is it has been about a year since we finished making their rooms a place they can call their own. The best part is they have kept their belongings in place and they spend many hours studying, laughing, entertaining their friends and most importantly keeping their rooms neat and tidy. Be patient, creative, listen and if you follow these steps you will also have tranquility in you life.

A cornerstone of building a sound financial future for your teenager is to teach him or her her how to save money. Sounds easy, but even many adults don’t know how to do it. And that could be because no one ever taught them. Parents can show their teens ways to save money by serving real-life examples.

The tips on how to save money are easy to use. In fact, there are no complications involved. Patience and persistence are needed, sure, but no special education or knowledge is required. Here’s a list of ways to save money specially created for teens.

1.	Do not put your computer in “standby” mode. Instead, shut it down. Do same with the monitor. While the power consumption in standby mode is little, it still adds up over the year. Same applies to all electronic appliances.
2.	Take shower instead of bath. This will lower water bills tremendously. Also, use the possibilities to take shower outside home. For me, with two weekly visits to a swimming pool, it’s easy and natural.
3.	If you do not plan to buy anything, then do not take cash when leaving home. If you have no cash in the purse or pocket, you can’t spend it. Sounds simple and works great.
4.	Have your parents open a savings account for you. Depending on the financial institution, your starting deposit can be as low as 1 dollar. Not much, right? But with due attitude and dedication, you’ll start making a small fortune pretty quickly.
5.	Pay yourself first. Set aside part of your income for savings, before spending anything. When give allowance or any unexpected sum of money, take out 10% of it and save. Make a habit of spending less than you get. It will help to pave the way for financially prosperous future.
6.	Set goals that appeal to you. Decide what you want — a multimedia computer or a bike? Perhaps your parents will add some 10% of the sum. When you want something badly, saving is easier.
7.	Plan major purchases ahead. Same applies to parties. Wait at least a week or so before purchasing. Chances are, you will change your mind or the price will drop. In both cases, you win.
8.	Monthly allowance will teach you to save and spend wise. When you have to cover a month of expenses, the temptation to spend half of the allowance at once won’t seize you.
9.	Keep a checkbook. It’s an old-fashioned method to put down records of all money received and spent. Doing so helps teens know where they stand financially. Analyzing your records over the month you’ll discover where you could spend less, or when you bought something you didn’t really need.
10.	Get a piggy bank for a change. Use only dollar bills when paying. When the year is over, you’ll have a lump some of saved money to make Christmas gifts.

By saving money teens learn patience and persistence. Every teen who embraces even one of these habits is well on his or her way to financial stability. It doesn’t really matter how many of these tips you try to use. Start with just one, and when mastered enough, get to another. Saving money is what makes teens financially aware for the adult life.

Coming up with teen party ideas might seem like a daunting task. After all, what your teen likes today, he or she may find repugnant in four weeks. Reaching an agreement on theme alone (without breaking the bank), just about takes an act of congress! Relax and stick with the tried and true ideas that offer flexibility for execution. Here’s a few ideas to help get your creative juices flowing.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – BEACH PARTY<br />

A Beach Party is sure to make a splash with teens. It affords a lot of freedom, as the beach is their “playground.” Think of all things beach-related when creating your invitations. For example, use actual beach balls, sunblock, sunglasses, frisbees, or flip-flops and attach the party info to these items and hand-deliver or make your invitations in these various shapes. Decor is simple. Add tiki torches, towels, lounge chairs, canopies, and citronella candles and you’re good to go. Games may include water balloons and its many variations, along with the good old standby–beach volleyball.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – LUAU PARTY

How about a Luau Party? Turn your backyard into a tropical paradise! Use postcards with a tropical picture as your invitations or create palm tree, shell, starfish, or pineapple-shaped invites. Use plenty of tiki torches for lighting and citronella candles for bugs. Decorate tables with grass skirts and string lights of paper lanterns around doors, porches, and decks. Use beachcomber hats to serve up all your yummy munchies. Throw in a hula dance, a few rounds of limbo, along with some water balloon games and you’ve got a recipe for success!

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – MURDER MYSTERY PARTY

If you’re looking for an evening of suspense, intrigue, and an old-fashioned “who dun it,” then a Murder Mystery Party will fit the bill. Your party may be one that allows everyone, including the host, to play a role for the evening and one of the guests is the murderer. Another option is to host a sit-down dinner party and hire actors, perhaps kids from your school’s drama department, to act out the play while your guests dine on dinner and try to figure out “who dun it.” For a quick pull-together party, select one of the “How To Host A Murder” boxed games and just follow the instructions for that particular game.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – SPA PARTY

How about a spa night? After all, who doesn’t want to be pampered? Bring in up and coming professionals to render services. Contact local massage and beauty schools and hire students about to graduate. Create spa stations for manicures, pedicures, facials, massage, hair, and makeup services to be rendered.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – BLACK LIGHT PARTY

The spot light is on fun when you opt for a black light party. Be sure your party room is pitch black and all signs of light are removed. Replace all of the light bulbs with black lights. Be sure your decorations consist of things that glow in the dark like white balloons, streamers, and shred. Since most food don’t glow in the dark, you’ll want to be sure to use plates, glasses, and cutlery that does glow in the dark. Have your guests dress in white and fluorescent colors so they light up the night.

Bottom Line: Plan ahead, pick a theme, and run with it. Have fun and keep it simple!

For years, plus size teens and young adults had little in the way of choice for fashionable, youthful clothing. They were forced to shop at “fat” stores, and find the least conservative styles at the “plus size ladies or guys” store. Manufacturers and retail stores would call all their plus size clothing, “teen friendly” when in reality the large flower print smock type blouses didn’t even really appeal to old ladies! It took years for the s/m/l designer mindset to realize that the majority of women and men, let alone teens aren’t s/m/l.

Plus size pre-teens had it even worse. At that awkward growing stage, pre-teens had to buy jeans that were way too baggy, long and shapeless and even with alteration, they would grow out of them quickly. Swimming suits for pre-teens went to size 14 or 16 if they were lucky, and they were never sized properly or attractive. JC Penneys and Sears were about the only common brick and mortar stores with some choice for plus size pre-teen and plus size teen fashion. And of course, back then in the 80s and early 90s there wasn’t an internet and catalog companies didn’t cater to plus size teens either! Going back further, the fashion world all but ignored plus size people in general. There might be one large size store in town and the mumu house dress and the boxy navy suit were all they carried. Plus size teenage girls in the 50s and 60s had to resort to wearing men’s jeans and slacks and shirts in order not to look like a 60 year old grandmother. The 70s brought an appreciation and realization that one size did not fit all, and jean companies began to stretch their line to size 18 and 20 with some fashionable choices. Richard Simmons came on the fashion scene in the early 80s and brought a recognition that plus size women and men were people too and might want some style in the wardrobe. But it still took another 20 years for fashion to embrace a teenage, youthful plus size look.

Thank goodness times have changed! Finally the fashion world has recognized there is a market for young, hip, plus size clothing and the internet is the delivery vehicle. The internet has forced choice on the fashion manufacturers and they are slowly realizing the demand is there and profitable. Forward thinking companies like Alight, Always for Me, Torrid, b&lu, Lane Bryant and The Avenue are delivering plus size teen fashions, in many choices and styles. Plus size teens still can’t find many options at the mall but that will no doubt change as the popularity of the online plus size teen stores becomes evident. Television shows like Oprah, Tyra and The View are featuring plus size fashion shows as the norm and not the exception. The waif model is morphing into a more realistic body type and fashion designers are building their styles on “normal” women, rather than designing a size 0 and making it larger for their plus size customers.

This notion that plus size teens would rather hide because of their weight problem and then not need fashion is being replaced with the realization that with body acceptance comes a greater ability to deal with weight issues. Again, stars like Oprah, Tyra and plus size model Emme have consistently asked for change in the way society treats plus size teens and adults. Slowly our image of a beautiful woman or attractive man isn’t limited to skin and bones, but includes all shapes and sizes. This new, healthy way of looking at size and style will ultimately help plus size teens feel better about themselves both mentally and physically. Hopefully the fashion world will embrace these new body types and retail possibilities and continue to expand their lines with plus size clothing actually made just for plus size teens.
